I wrote my first song about 20 years ago. It wasn't great, but it was honest.

I love the feeling of creating something ‘tangible’ out of a moment in time. Some songs are fictional stories, some are journal entries, some are exercise reps to help prepare me for a future moment when the muse knocks on my door.

Since streaming platforms only pay the highest tier of artists, most artists will never make any money from their work. This is unfortunate, since these artists will often spend many thousands of dollars on gear, instruments, studio time, etc. to create the work they share.

We know this going in, hence the “starving artist” idiom. The reward of being an artist is the ability to create art and share it with others.
